(P)inspired

Sorry for the inconsistent posting! My goal is to blog every day, but sometimes life gets in the way and a quick power nap is much more appealing than sitting at my laptop.

For today's post, I found a great idea for a different way to wear my maxi skirt. I bought it years ago at Old Navy and I think I wore it once. Mostly because I thought it should only be worn in the summer as-is, but since I'm not a huge fan of tank tops (well, really I just don't like to show my arms) I never wear it. But then I found this cute photo on Pinterest and thought it was a nice way to use the dress any time of the year!

st. patty's green

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Although I don't hit the bars and party like I used to, I still love St. Patrick's Day, and I couldn't not do a post wearing something green! When I'm too lazy to straighten my very wavy, frizzy hair, I opt for a simple little bun (so you'll see me like this ALOT).

Enjoy the day!

floral leggings

I've been a little hesitant to wear these leggings because I'm not sure I can pull them off at my age, but I just love the colors! I can't seem to find the perfect tunic to go with them so I paired them with this black top. I would rather wear something a little more loose, but eh, I'm using what I have! ;)

stripey

I love a good deal. A few months ago I was at Ross looking for a gift for someone, and I happened to be there during one of their "dress events". I found this cute little striped dress and knew it had to come home with me. Who can pass up such a cute dress and for only $16.99?? Whaaaat? I love the mod feel it has to it with the lines and simple shape, and what better way to pair it than with black opaque tights and booties!

(P)inspired Tuesday

If you're like me, you're addicted to Pinterest and you've seen the countless outfit posts and fun sets from Polyvore. I get so much of my outfit inspiration from Pinterest, and so on occasion I will be dedicating posts to my (P)inspired looks.

For this look, I love how casual it is. It's totally me. Jeans and sweater kind of girl. I love getting dressed up too, but for my lifestyle (day job, mom of energetic almost-4-year old, wifey) jeans are the way to go!

polka dotty

Happy Friday! I don't really have anything exciting to look forward to this weekend, but I love getting home from work and not having to worry about packing lunches or bags for the next day (usually for my daughter). Unfortunately, it's a pretty dreary day in the Bay, and my choice to wear a skirt wasn't that great. Brrr!!! Anyway, I wanted to try something a little more fun today. I usually pair this top with a black skirt or black bottoms so I added this mustard skirt for a pop of color. It's a bit of a risk for me because I feel that anything other than dark denim or black will emphasize "bigger" sections of my lower half...lol. In the end, it's not too bad.

studs and my Debbie Gibson hat

How many of you liked Debbie Gibson growing up? If you're "old" like me, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Those fabulous 80's when polka dots and Debbie Gibson rocked your world. I bought this hat at Forever 21 last year, and it totally reminded me of Miss Gibson. This sweater was yet another F21 purchase (can you tell I like that store?) and I love how the studs kind of give it a bit of a rocker vibe, which is how I was feeling today.

Trend to try:: Neon

For me, trends are sometimes better in small doses. I love trends, and I totally admire anyone who can pull them off. The neon trend in particular is a little scary for me only because I'm not sure I could pull it off. BUT, I loooove neon and bright colors, so I thought I could add little pops of color to what would be an otherwise boring outfit. Why not?

For the love of Toms

I absolutely love my Toms Desert Wedges. I have been going on and ON about these shoes for the longest time, and my dear hubby bought them for me for my birthday in December. They are the MOST comfortable shoes ever. I am all about comfort, and I could spend all day in these shoes. I love that you could wear them with jeans, pants, dresses and skirts. So, for this outfit, I felt like they added a sense of comfort and coziness to an outfit that could be dressed up or down.

Floral Dress, Maroon Tights

I often get inspired by a piece of clothing or an accessory and that will result in the outfit I choose to wear. I've had these tights for a while now, and the other day I was cleaning out my drawer when I found them. This floral hi-low dress was the first thing I thought of to pair them with, and I think it works pretty well!

Finally! White jeans that fit!!

I have been looking for the perfect fitting jeans for the longest time. I was so excited when I found these  at Target! I have the skinniest legs (and not the skinniest middle), so finding a pair of pants that fit my odd proportions is not easy. I bought some jeans at Old Navy, and I thought the Flirt jeans fit ok, but they didn't fit quite right at the leg. So I found these Mossimo Premium Denim jeans at Target and was beyond excited to find that they fit me great! I paired them with a little mint top I got from Forever 21 and voila! I'm so bummed because this is my first outfit post and I was having the WORST hair day! I promise I'll get better at this (and promise to smile more!!)

Hello? Is this thing on?

Welcome! This is my first post on this blog! Like lots of other fashionistas and style junkies, I decided to start a blog to document my style. I love to shop, but I also don't like to spend too much money. I've always felt that you don't have to spend a lot of money to look good. So, through this blog I hope to challenge myself to really use what I already have in my closet so I'll be including outfit posts and any other musings about style, clothes and shopping. I shop at places like NY&Co., Forever 21, H&M, Old Navy, Target, Marshall's, TJ Maxx and lots of other affordable places so alot of my outfit posts will most likely include clothes from these particular stores. Don't get me wrong, if I could shop at designer stores, I sure would! But since that's not my reality, I make do. ;)

A little about me:

I love chocolate covered almonds

I collect People StyleWatch magazines

I love shopping ((duh))

I love accessories

I smell like Marc Jacobs Daisy

I love to make jewelry

I married my high school sweetheart in a castle in Italy

and we have a beautiful little girl who is also a budding fashionista ;)

I also took the photos above (except my wedding photo), so you'll see that I love photography as well!
