Lash Love!

Let me make one thing clear:  In no way do I consider myself to be a beauty or makeup guru, BUT  that doesn't mean I don't love makeup and all things beauty just like the next person. I just wanted to put that out there because I will occasionally talk about the things I love and currently obsess over. Right now, that product is my new favorite mascara!!  I have somewhat longish lashes, but they're pretty thin, so if there's one product I can't leave home without, it's mascara. Well, I popped into my local Sephora a few weeks ago to buy some makeup, and I had some points accrued through my membership that I wanted to use and one of the products they were giving was a sample of Benefit's "They're Real" mascara. OH EM GEE!! I fell in love the minute I tried this product. The brush totally separates my lashes and it doesn't clump. Also, I always have an issue with mascara getting on my top lid (which drives me nuts) and with this wand that doesn't happen. I'm so glad I tried this out because I don't think I'll be going back to my old mascara. Love this stuff! ;)

Recent Obsession:: Peach Lipstick

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a great day! The weather has been so off lately, one day it's overcast and foggy and another it's sunny and windy. Where is the warm weather already! Actually, I don't know what I'm talking about seeing as I live in the Bay Area and we don't really get summer until September or October!

Anyway, I wanted to share my latest obsession, which is makeup. I went through a similar phase not too long ago, where all I want to buy is makeup, only this time I'm obsessing over lipstick. So I've been visiting the makeup counters and drugstores a lot lately. I'm on the hunt for a nice peachy/coral lipstick for the spring and summer and I'm hoping one of these options will work. The trouble with looking online is that you don't really know what the true color is until you actually have it on, but at least I have a good selection to start with!

Do you have any suggestions on some fun peachy colors for spring/summer?

:)

My mini-me

I was so blessed to have a daughter as girly as I am. She has a love of all things clothes, makeup, and accessories just like me. The other day while cleaning out some clothes in her closet, I found that she had the exact same H&M shirt I had! I could not resist doing a mini-shoot with her and our matching outfits. Before long she won't be able to fit into it, and I couldn't pass up that moment. Enjoy some pics of me and my little princess.

3 Ways: White and Black Floral Skirt

So I've had a black and white floral skirt (similar to the one below) for as long as I can remember, and to this day I think I  only wore it once. That's often the case for me. I'll buy something because I have to have it and I promise I can wear it with everything and so many different tops and shoes, and, and, and... and then it sits in my closet for like, 7 years. SO, to inspire me, I created this little inspo board in hopes that I can resurrect said skirt for the coming months.

Mother's Day

Today's outfit is a little simple, but shows one of my favorite color pallets. I love soft peaches and cream colors, and although I was thinking of wearing something more floral (when I think Mother's Day, I think floral!) I picked out something with more blush tones. This is what I wore for breakfast with my mom and family. This evening will be spent with my lovely in-laws, and I'll most likely wear something different since we're going somewhere near the coast. ;)

Happy Mother's Day!

3 ways:: chambray shirt

On the days I'm not able to post outfit photos, I like to go online and do some virtual stylin'! Today I am showing three ways to wear a chambray shirt. Now, I'm not trying to be Rachel Zoe and be super creative, this is just to show realistically how I would wear this shirt. :)

currently craving:: floral blazer

Hi everyone! I hope you are all enjoying this lovely spring day! Today's post is all about how much I am loving floral blazers!! I've seen them in many places, and I actually bought one and then returned it! I thought it might be too much for me, and now I wish I hadn't returned it! I'm now seeing all these cute ways I could wear one, so back to the store I go!

Below are some cute ones I found when window shopping online. What do you think? Would you try this trend?

coming out of hiding

Hello out there! It's been a while since I've blogged anything. Mostly because I've been busy with my day job, home life, etc. I just haven't made the time for anything else. I get home from work, and my daughter wants to play as soon as I walk in the door. All I hear once that door opens is "hi mommy! can you play with me in my dollhouse?" And of course, as tired as I am, I just can't say no. I mean, how much longer is she going to want to play with me? Before I know it, I'll be begging for HER attention! Anyway, that means there's no time for chillin or much of anything else until bedtime, and by that time I'm too exhausted to do anything except watch re-runs of Real Housewives or Rachel Zoe Project. I'm making a commitment (to myself) to get better at this!!

That's all I got for today folks!

(P)inspired

Sorry for the inconsistent posting! My goal is to blog every day, but sometimes life gets in the way and a quick power nap is much more appealing than sitting at my laptop.

For today's post, I found a great idea for a different way to wear my maxi skirt. I bought it years ago at Old Navy and I think I wore it once. Mostly because I thought it should only be worn in the summer as-is, but since I'm not a huge fan of tank tops (well, really I just don't like to show my arms) I never wear it. But then I found this cute photo on Pinterest and thought it was a nice way to use the dress any time of the year!

st. patty's green

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Although I don't hit the bars and party like I used to, I still love St. Patrick's Day, and I couldn't not do a post wearing something green! When I'm too lazy to straighten my very wavy, frizzy hair, I opt for a simple little bun (so you'll see me like this ALOT).

Enjoy the day!

floral leggings

I've been a little hesitant to wear these leggings because I'm not sure I can pull them off at my age, but I just love the colors! I can't seem to find the perfect tunic to go with them so I paired them with this black top. I would rather wear something a little more loose, but eh, I'm using what I have! ;)

stripey

I love a good deal. A few months ago I was at Ross looking for a gift for someone, and I happened to be there during one of their "dress events". I found this cute little striped dress and knew it had to come home with me. Who can pass up such a cute dress and for only $16.99?? Whaaaat? I love the mod feel it has to it with the lines and simple shape, and what better way to pair it than with black opaque tights and booties!

(P)inspired Tuesday

If you're like me, you're addicted to Pinterest and you've seen the countless outfit posts and fun sets from Polyvore. I get so much of my outfit inspiration from Pinterest, and so on occasion I will be dedicating posts to my (P)inspired looks.

For this look, I love how casual it is. It's totally me. Jeans and sweater kind of girl. I love getting dressed up too, but for my lifestyle (day job, mom of energetic almost-4-year old, wifey) jeans are the way to go!

polka dotty

Happy Friday! I don't really have anything exciting to look forward to this weekend, but I love getting home from work and not having to worry about packing lunches or bags for the next day (usually for my daughter). Unfortunately, it's a pretty dreary day in the Bay, and my choice to wear a skirt wasn't that great. Brrr!!! Anyway, I wanted to try something a little more fun today. I usually pair this top with a black skirt or black bottoms so I added this mustard skirt for a pop of color. It's a bit of a risk for me because I feel that anything other than dark denim or black will emphasize "bigger" sections of my lower half...lol. In the end, it's not too bad.

studs and my Debbie Gibson hat

How many of you liked Debbie Gibson growing up? If you're "old" like me, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Those fabulous 80's when polka dots and Debbie Gibson rocked your world. I bought this hat at Forever 21 last year, and it totally reminded me of Miss Gibson. This sweater was yet another F21 purchase (can you tell I like that store?) and I love how the studs kind of give it a bit of a rocker vibe, which is how I was feeling today.

Trend to try:: Neon

For me, trends are sometimes better in small doses. I love trends, and I totally admire anyone who can pull them off. The neon trend in particular is a little scary for me only because I'm not sure I could pull it off. BUT, I loooove neon and bright colors, so I thought I could add little pops of color to what would be an otherwise boring outfit. Why not?

For the love of Toms

I absolutely love my Toms Desert Wedges. I have been going on and ON about these shoes for the longest time, and my dear hubby bought them for me for my birthday in December. They are the MOST comfortable shoes ever. I am all about comfort, and I could spend all day in these shoes. I love that you could wear them with jeans, pants, dresses and skirts. So, for this outfit, I felt like they added a sense of comfort and coziness to an outfit that could be dressed up or down.

Floral Dress, Maroon Tights

I often get inspired by a piece of clothing or an accessory and that will result in the outfit I choose to wear. I've had these tights for a while now, and the other day I was cleaning out my drawer when I found them. This floral hi-low dress was the first thing I thought of to pair them with, and I think it works pretty well!

Finally! White jeans that fit!!

I have been looking for the perfect fitting jeans for the longest time. I was so excited when I found these  at Target! I have the skinniest legs (and not the skinniest middle), so finding a pair of pants that fit my odd proportions is not easy. I bought some jeans at Old Navy, and I thought the Flirt jeans fit ok, but they didn't fit quite right at the leg. So I found these Mossimo Premium Denim jeans at Target and was beyond excited to find that they fit me great! I paired them with a little mint top I got from Forever 21 and voila! I'm so bummed because this is my first outfit post and I was having the WORST hair day! I promise I'll get better at this (and promise to smile more!!)

Hello? Is this thing on?

Welcome! This is my first post on this blog! Like lots of other fashionistas and style junkies, I decided to start a blog to document my style. I love to shop, but I also don't like to spend too much money. I've always felt that you don't have to spend a lot of money to look good. So, through this blog I hope to challenge myself to really use what I already have in my closet so I'll be including outfit posts and any other musings about style, clothes and shopping. I shop at places like NY&Co., Forever 21, H&M, Old Navy, Target, Marshall's, TJ Maxx and lots of other affordable places so alot of my outfit posts will most likely include clothes from these particular stores. Don't get me wrong, if I could shop at designer stores, I sure would! But since that's not my reality, I make do. ;)

A little about me:

I love chocolate covered almonds

I collect People StyleWatch magazines

I love shopping ((duh))

I love accessories

I smell like Marc Jacobs Daisy

I love to make jewelry

I married my high school sweetheart in a castle in Italy

and we have a beautiful little girl who is also a budding fashionista ;)

I also took the photos above (except my wedding photo), so you'll see that I love photography as well!
